Message Series: Without a Trace?
It’s 2000 years ago. You’re in Bethelehem. If you were examining the evidence, you might say that God had disappeared without a trace. The Saviour of the world is being born in a barn and a king is on the hunt for this baby’s life. The first Christmas was a mess, in the same way our lives often get messy. Finding out how God was present in the first Christmas can provide some amazing clues as to how God is actually present in your life today, no matter how bad it looks.

Ever ask where God is in the midst of your crisis? When the FBI hunts down a missing person, it uses this simple rule: learn who the victim is in order to learn where the victim is. Maybe we can adapt that: learn who God is to learn where God is. This week, see how God actually is present in the struggle of your everyday life.

So if you were Mary, if you were Joseph, how would have known that God was speaking to you? People often go through ‘mountain top” experiences only to find they lose hope in a deep valley moments later. This weekend, we’ll look to Mary and Joseph to see what made them keep going so we can learn how we can keep going.
Christmas Eve: December 24th “My Christmas Vacation” Carey Nieuwhof
Mary and Joseph had a less than-ideal first Christmas, which is incredibly good news to those of us who live less-than-ideal lives frought with real world struggles. Jesus’ birth in the most unusual of places under extremely difficult circumstances is actually a sign of God’s undying love for you.
On Christmas Eve, we shared with you the story of 20 year old Justin Piercy. Two years ago, Justin was in a suicidal depression in hospital when he met Jesus. On myspace.com, Justin writes “In November of 2004, I was gripped by a suicidal depression, held down by addiction and above all, by myself. On the fifteenth of the month, I opened the door, and Jesus came and rescued me. What he did for me was beyond words, and for it I will praise him till the day that I die. And beyond.” Watch the video on youtube.com or myspace.com or hear more of Justin’s story at his page on myspace.com. Thanks to all
who made it out Christmas Eve. Let Jesus guide you in 2007.
Sunday, December 31st 2006 “Better Days?” Patrick Voo
This week we’ll peek ahead to the end and see that even after Christmas, it got worse for Mary, Joseph and Jesus. Yet in an amazing way, His story was written in a way that meets our story – the story of twisted, broken, pain-filled lives that get graced by the presence of Jesus Himself. You ready?
