Message Series: Consumed
The distance that currently exists between God and people was not just put there by God or His enemy; it’s often created by people who claim to love God. God is consumed by His love for people, and often we’re consumed by blocking that message. Using the book of Jonah as our guide, we’ll try to help everyone solve this chronic problem. When insiders change their patterns, outsiders find God.
August 19th “Rebel Yell”
When God asked Jonah to help with a project, Jonah ran off in the opposite direction. God got mad. Believe it or not, this is a pattern that shows up in the lives of many people who follow God, and it’s a pattern that damages thousands of people we know and love.
August 26th “Heart Attack”
Two very different hearts get revealed when Jonah finally does what God asked him to do: Jonah’s heart, and God’s heart. Jonah’s heart masks the deep and pure heart of God. If Christians could get out of God’s way, thousands more might see God’s goodness.
September 2nd “Consumer Beware”
Some people never learn... like Jonah. While God is consumed with loving people, Jonah is consumed with himself. An inward focus is what every follower of God fights, and God will work against those who want to work against Him. What things could God be destroying in your life to get you to pay attention?
